5 Funeral Etiquette Tips You Need To Know

At Blair Mazzarella Funeral Home, we understand how difficult it may be for many individuals to attend a funeral. While it is a way to display support for the deceased's family and bid farewell to the departed person, some are unsure how to express their sorrow.

Few Suggestions

The following are five funeral etiquette guidelines you should be aware of:

  1. You must dress appropriately. Funeral attire is traditionally formal, which you should strive to adhere to. Attending a funeral in casual clothing, such as a T-shirt and jeans, is inconsiderate and improper. If you cannot wear formal attire, make efforts to dress solemnly and in subdued colors.
  2. Arrive a few minutes early at the funeral ceremony location. Arriving late may cause the ceremony to be disrupted and show you in a poor light. Consider variables such as traffic and get to the place a few minutes early.
  3. Make sure that your cell phone is on mute or switched off. Attend the funeral without reading or writing messages. If you have an important call, silently exit the room and attend to it outside.
  4. Take care with your remarks when expressing condolences to the bereaved family. While it is necessary to console the bereaved with loving words, you also must politely demonstrate your support without offending them.
  5. Flowers are an appropriate method to express your admiration for the deceased and your sympathies with the family. However, it is critical to select the proper flowers, such as daisies, chrysanthemums, lilies, carnations, and gladioli.
