Obituary of Sueradj Singh

Sueradj Singh, 84, beloved father of eight, brother, grandfather and great grandfather died in Brooklyn on October 1, 2018. Mr. Singh was born May 10, 1934 in Guyana, South America. He raised his family of eight there and supported them through hard physical work on a family farm, where rice, vegetables, milk and other food was raised by hand. 

 

In 1985,  he emigrated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York. He worked as a security guard and continued to enjoy his love of gardening by cultivating flower and vegetable gardens in Brooklyn and upstate New York. In 1999 he retired and dedicated his days to his wife, children and grandchildren. 

 

Eventually, all of Mr. Singh's children joined him in the United States, where they studied, worked hard and raised families of their own. 

 

Mr. Singh is survived by Kalawati Ramanthan Singh, his wife of 64 years; sons Oam Prackash, Pooran and Komalnauth and late Shamsunder. Daughters Sheila, Kamel and Kamal. He gained three daughters in law and two sons in law. Also saddened by Mr. Singh's departure are 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.    

 

The Singh family will receive visitors at the Blair - Mazzarella Funeral Home on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn on Thursday and Friday, October 4th and 5th from 5pm to 9pm. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home Saturday, October 6th from 9am to 11am. The service will be followed by Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in the Kensington area of Brooklyn.
