Obituary of Dorothy Adams
On July 20, 1937 Dorothy Adams was born to Lucius Adams and Mary Jane Gardner-Adams. Dorothy loved roller skating, swimming, and sports as a child. Academically she was always a high achiever in school. Receiving all A’s in all her subjects was her main goal in school. Graduating from Julia Richman High School at 16 years old with the highest marks in her Mathematics Regents class. Dorothy choose to go to work instead of College because she wanted to help raise her baby sister Dee since their father had to stop working due to a heart condition. Dorothy went to Business School at night and became a top legal secretary. Due to her love of law she would go on to become a Paralegal and finally a Legal Case Worker for Debevoise & Plimpton, an international law firm from which she retired at 68 years old. Dorothy loved art, painting and sketching, needle crafts and book collecting. As a lifelong intellectual she would always study and want to learn something about everything; a talent she would cultivate in her little sister, Dee, who she took to libraries, museums, exhibits, and parks every weekend. After a long illness she has gone on to be with the Lord and family on the other side. She is loved and will be truly missed by those left behind in this world.
Dorothy is survived by her two sisters Deborah Adams and Dee Adams, her Nephew Robert J.A. Dourandi and her Niece Dorothy B. Dourandi.
