Obituary of Marcy Lawrence
Please share a memory of Marcy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marcy Ann (Stern) Lawrence, 70, of Merrick, NY, passed away on January 28, 2023 at home, surrounded by her family, while bravely battling cancer.
Marcy was born on July 13, 1952, in the Bronx to Rosabelle & Abraham Stern. She was married for 49 years to the love of her life, Barry. The two met when Marcy was just 19 years old & they married a few years later. They raised their two daughters, Erica & Dana, in Merrick where Marcy made many lifelong friends.
Marcy was a soft spoken, gentle & kind woman who was always there for her family & friends. Her family was her sole focus, and she worried over and took care of them until the end, sometimes to the exclusion of her own needs. She was a dedicated daughter, a loving & supportive mother & a beloved & special Nana to her five grandchildren. Marcy and her sister April were best friends and maintained a very close relationship from the time they shared a bedroom when they were young until her passing. Marcy was an avid reader who loved to play Scrabble with her friends, as well as an animal lover; having cats throughout her whole adult life.
She was proceeded in death by her parents & grandparents. She is survived by her husband Barry, daughters Erica Lepurage & Dana (Adam) Harkin, grandchildren Amanda, Becca, Aidan, Nate, Peyton, siblings April Stern & Robert (Lesley) Stern & brother-in-law Jeffrey (Judith) Lawrence. Marcy also had four nephews & a niece.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Association for Children with Down Syndrome (ACDS), a not for profit serving individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities where both Barry & Erica have worked for many years, or to Sunrise Day Camp, a camp for children with cancer and their siblings, an organization important to Dana’s family.
