Please share a memory of Cindy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cindy Angela Lewis was born on November 3, 1962 on the twin Island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago. Cindy departed this life on Thursday January 2,2014 after succumbing to complications from diabetes.
Cindy was the third of eight children born to Andrew Lewis (deceased) and Marjorie Lewis. The oldest girl, she was born a protector, yet adventurous and fun. At age 19, she migrated to the United States and quickly acclimated herself to the hustle and bustle of New York City. However, she never forgot her family in Trinidad and would always send them beautiful clothing that was the envy of many.
Determined to be a success, Cindy earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from Kingsborough Community College and York College, City University of New York. She single handly bought her homes in Queens, New York and worked hard to achieve the American dream. In New York she held positions at Maranatha Human Services, Brookdale Hospital, and Time Warner Cable. After purchasing a house in Atlanta, Georgia she relocated there about 9 years ago where she was employed at Orkin Pest Control. She became ill in the last few years and returned to New York.
For those of us whose lives she touched, we will always remember a shining star with a vivacious personality who lit up a room when she walked in. Cindy was a people person and was kind and generous. She welcomed those newly arrived to the USA with clothing and ethnic Trinidad cuisine. Cindy loved to cook, dance, and party. Fashionable and trendy, she owned over 500 pairs of shoes. She was quick witted, opinionated and outspoken. You always knew what her position was on any topic-there was no ambiguity involved. She loved hard and fought hard. She was a great mother to her only child, Colson and worked hard to provide him with the very best at all times.
She leaves behind to mourn her son Colson Dempster Jr., Mother Marjorie Lewis Colson Dempster Sr., her granddaughter Montana Cindy, daughter-in-law Sade Thomas, her brothers Wayne, Peter,Anderson , and Damian.
